Was shopping at Rural King today and they have an Davage Axis in 6.5 creedmore with a 3x9x40 weaver scope for 260$ after rebates. Any good or bad experiences?

The Axis model (without the accutrigger) is accurate but does have a heavy trigger pull and the bolt is a bit stiff (especially when new).
IMO, it's a good gun and represents a good value for your dollar @ that price point.

bought a Savage Axis last January on sale .It was the combo package with rebate.I had a better scope already so I swapped out scopes.Glad I did because the mounts and bases had only been installed barely finger tight. I removed them and put blue loc-tite on the base screws and screwed them down with the Fat Wrench torque driver. Took the rifle to a local gunsmith and he did a trigger job on it.A very crisp 1 3/4 lbs. Mounted the better scope and sighted in 2" high at 100 yds.with 3 shots in 3/4 ". Hornady precision 140 grs. My family used this rifle on a picked cornfield this gun season and 6 deer fell to it.Shots were 110 to 180 yds and one of the 6 managed to run 20 yds but the other 5 dropped where they stood .Might have to get a couple more of these as my wife and daughter want mine. They were amazed at the accuracy and low recoil.

Lightening and shortening the trigger pull are easy DIY. Check Youtube for help.
As always, go slow and test often.
