actually it was at the mailbox.
This morning as I am driving down the driveway a full plumage Bald Eagle landed on a tree branch about 20 feet above my mailbox. The wife and I were in shock, I took some photos of it with my phone but they didn't come out very good. The bird sat there for approx. 3-5 min before flying off. We have had them around the pond before but never in our front yard.
I am thinking he/she might be on furlough from a national park somewhere because of the government shutdown.

First time I ever saw one in the "wild" in my area I nearly ran my truck into a utility pole because I was so focused on watching it.

Butchered a couple hogs the other day and dumped the waste out back a nice 200 yard shot from the porch, thinking I might crack a coyote. Haven't seen a coyote yet but a couple eagles and hawks have been working on it.

I see them flying low over the Ohio River and backwater. It's an awesome sight to see one up close.

I see one flying occasionally between the Willow Street and Hart Street exits on US 41 in Vincennes.
There are more around than a lot of people think.

Since I'm close to the Ohio river I see them once and a while. Awesome to see every time.

They are pretty neat birds. When fishing or just boating on Monroe we see one nearly every time on the water. The most was four different eagles in one day.

I had one eyeball my duck decoys a few weeks ago. It was so low that I could see it turn its head to look back at the decoys.

I have a buddy up in Wisconsin that shot a duck this fall and before the dog could et to it an eagle picked it off.
