Got an issue that I know nothing about: brakes!!!! (Either they stop you or they don't ) Got a 2001 Arctic Cat 250 2X4 that the wheels will lock up if you use the hydraulic hand brake. Did it to me last year and I just used the foot brake (cable brake) and promptly forgot about it. After sitting a while it the calipers will back off and it will roll like normal. Got it out the other day to give her a once over before October and "re-found" the issue. When it is locked up, the brake lever will not return to its uncompressed position either. Is my master cylinder shot?? I have tried to Google and this seems to be what I am finding, but I am NO brake mechanic!!! Also seeing a completely different master cylinder being listed for my ride: plastic Wilwood, but mine is all metal. Thanks in advance!

omegahunter I have a manual in pdf for a 2000 if you are interested. Send me a PM with your email if you want it. There is also a dealer/parts place that was extremely helpful getting me the correct part numbers for one that I was working on. I needed the year and model and all I had was the VIN. Country Cat

I appreciate the manual!!
With time ticking away, I have decided to put off the official repair until spring. For now I have taken the calipers off, made sure the plungers are pushed back in to take pressure off the pads, and then re-installed the calipers. Then I removed the brake lever to keep from accidentally hitting it with something and locking up the brakes again. Then I made sure to take almost all of the slack out of the mechanical foot brake to the point that I can lock up the wheels with it.
Thanks for any and all help, all!
I will have to get back after it in the spring, but it looks like 2001 Arctic Cat brake hoses are no longer available new. So it looks like I will have to get inventive to get the hydraulic brakes back up to working status.
