The area we fished this past week on Lake Erie is called Wild Wings because this area has several large federal waterfowl refuges heck even the streets in that area are named after waterfowl. The last two years there were so many Baby geese you couldn't look in any direction close or far without seeing loads of goslings, this year there were only a few.
Today I go by the pond and I see a pair of geese but they only have 1 very small gosling. I think this extended cold had reduced our hatch by either the geese laying less eggs or maybe they haven't laid yet because of the cold or the eggs froze killing the embryo.
I sure hope the turkeys have better success.

That will be bad if so. Could make for a good molt migration come September.

Fantastic! IMO it's got to be two or more groups there, a lot of times bachelors will watch over young geese.

I agree, my guess is at least 3 clutches. Not exactly sure what the normal clutch size is but my gut tells me it is close to 5 birds. I counted 21 young there. Come on goose season.

I figured they would not have that many in one hatching. I see a lot of geese in the fields so I kind of thought they would have to share parenting duties. Most of the pairs I see have 3 to 6. I think there are about 5 to 6 different families on this pond. Centennial Industrial Park in Ft Wayne
