Hopefully for your sake. I've been watching groups and they have disappeared from where I had been seeing them. They are elusive creatures, that's for sure. Saw a big tom last year just before season opened (pictured in my avatar) and they all disappeared as soon as it was legal to take them.  As elusive as the turkeys are, they aren't as bad as the pheasants I have running around here. Those won't stay visible long enough for me to snap a picture of them. |

Wouldn't you know it...As soon as the season opened, they pulled a disappearing act on me. Now that the season is over, here he is just taunting me...  |

I keep hearing people say our season is too late, yet once season closed all I seem to hear is everybody seeming birds strutting and looking for a girlfriend. Is maybe our season a bit early?

I had more than 10 hanging around before the season started and then I had this guy and 2 hens in my yard since. During season I spotted this same tom and his 2 hens on the neighboring property but couldn't get him to come onto mine by calling when it was legal to shoot him. Figures. I was just given a decoy for my birthday so I will try that next season. |
