Throwing my hat in the ring for Iowa and Kansas whitetail tags this year, along with the usual IN and IL. First time attempt at IA, so I'm sure it will take 2-3 years.

Unsuccessful for Arizona elk, but that was expected.
I applied today in New Mexico for deer, elk, javelina, and Barbary sheep. Javelina is the only tag with decent odds, we'll see if I get lucky.

Are you figuring in extra $$ for gas money?

Are you figuring in extra $$ for gas money? Nah, I'm sure our competent leaders will have it all figured out by then! Seriously though, I'll make whatever sacrifices are necessary to make it happen. My cars are pretty decent on fuel, so not a huge deal for me anyway.

In for Utah general muzzy deer with a guy from work and 2 buddies from this site. Applied me and the 2 oldest for moose in Maine. I'll be buying points in several states and possibly some other hunts.

Maine moose is tough I bought into for years and gave up my father had good friends that lived in Maine they were going to be my eyes and ears not sure if it’s true but they told me I’d have a very good chance at one as they knew the area but they moved so I gave up on the whole deal

A friend of mine came back from around Laredo Texas a few weeks ago from a Javelina hunt. He got 2 with his recurve bow and his bow building buddy got one. IIRC they were on public ground.

I had got my turkey and was sitting in a deer feeder tripod with hopes of a big hog would come in but it did it and it never left

I gave it to one of the ranch hands he turned us on to some good locations for turkey he said they smoke them whole I got it the last night I don’t think it weighed 30 or 40 lbs and I just didn’t want to screw around trying to butcher it or keep on ice all the way home for 15 20 lbs of meat.
I’ve heard both some guys say shoot them and let them lay others say they taste good

My buddy said use one knife to skin them, THEN use it to cut away the scent glands and another knife to butcher them.

Said it's hard to compete with guys that purchase a lot of points. I seen a fair number when I was up there bear and cat hunting, even found a few sheds while cat hunting in January.

It took a buddy of mine 18 years to get a license. His hunt lasted about 10 minutes. One stepped out as they were walking to where the guide was going to start calling and the .308 did the trick.

I submitted my Colorado applications today. I applied for a muzzleloader elk tag I should have a good chance at drawing. Points for everything else.

Colorado has some really, really weird muzzleloading rules. You cannot use a smokeless muzzleloader at all, not even during regular rifle season! You can if you use what is considered to be "black powder" in it, but you cannot have a telescopic sight on it either. Even during the regular rifle season, at least that's what I was told when I called their DNR office.

I'm fairly certain the muzzleloader restrictions are only for the actual muzzleloader season, you can use scopes, sabots, etc. during a rifle season. Not that I would ever want to use a muzzleloader when I could tote a HPR.
I have a muzzleloader just for states like Colorado now, I got it when Wal-Mart marked them down to less than $100 a few years ago. Traditions cerakote, break-barrel model. Factory open sights, nothing fancy. Shoots pretty good with 100 grain Blackhorn 209 and Federal Bore-Lock bullets.
