What do the different numbers mean on soybean seed bags, such as 4.2, 3.5 etc?

It is a soybean maturity. A 3.5 is planted mid to lower part of state while the 4.2 would be a southern Indiana maturity. The higher the the number the the longer it takes to reach full maturity. Northern Indiana would plant 2.0 to a 3.2 maturity the mid part of the state would plant a 2.3 to a 3.6 maturity and southern would plant a 3.0 to a 4.2. www.aganytime.com/asgrow/PublishingImages/mgt/map-soybean-maturity.png
