Enjoy the shooting while you got it,things are very stale up here, you guys did far better than 77 hunters did at Kankakee game preserve on 11-23-2017 the total kill for that day was 27 birds.

We had plenty of birds this morning. If if wasn't for some very poor shooting we should have had a 3 man limit. We were all off on the shooting this morning.

Not nearly as many ducks this morning. But we scrapped out 8 big ducks. 6 mallards and 2 gads. Not a bad opener.

Well we had another decent shoot. Ended up with a 3 man limit of divers. We have a lake that always gets a large number of them for a week or so. So as with every year. We had our annual diver beat down this morning. It was fast and furious for awhile. And a lot better than a cold deer stand. Lol

Next week is our last week for the first season the temps will be going in the tank, I would bet a lot of skinny water will be frozen by next week this time. Things have been very slow up here with all the groundhog weather days we have been having.
Keep your eyes to the sky.

Good to hear. All the guys in our group tagged out on deer so on to waterfowl.it is. We have access to some gravel pits that were loaded last year. Hopefully our success will be better in our 2nd full year waterfowl hunting.

Another nice morning in the blind. Ended up with a mixed bag of 21 birds. Really proud of the new dog. He retrieved 16 of the 21 on a big pit. Think he will make a good one.

I was just about to ask if anybody was doing any good. What did you guys shoot? Are there a lot of birds down your way? Nothing up here except geese.

Going in the morning to a gravel pit we have access to. Last night there was 5 to 6 thousand geese and 2 to 3 thousand ducks using it. Got the decoys and ion boat loaded up.

Had a decent hunt last Saturday. The lake I hunt typically doesn't get real good until the smaller ponds start freezing up and I decided to wait to set up until most of the birds left from roosting. Got one Canada and two widgeon. Could've had a couple of teal but I had trouble picking one out of the 100 or so that zoomed by. By the time I got on one they were a little too far.

We did it again. Good scouting paid off. This was a perfect hunt as they get. Birds had been there for a few days. We made the hike in this morning and was set up before the first birds returned from the fields. We was 1 bird shy of a 3 man limit on greenheads in about 45 minutes. Probably close to 200 birds drop down in the slew and was in our face. Another good day for my pup. He did another fine job.

I watched several hundred ducks working a network of open ditches at the end of a lake, these birds were about 250 yards away and would not even look my way except for a drake Mallard and a perfect mature Pintail drake.

Several birds around. But they didn't want to dance today. Ended up with 6 mallards and was home in time to go to church with the wife.
