This will probbly be long.
I am going to vent, state my opinion and set up some hypothetical situations so you can think about them.
Am I going to step on some toes? Probbly but it would appere you got the toes where they dont belong. So here it goes.
What is the worst word? Is it gutghot? I stuck one. I lost one. Well i dispise the word STUCK. Because it implies (weather you do or not) an unethical behaved about flinging arrows with out regard to the animal you shot at. It implies that the animal was lost. (Weather it was a 10 yd recovery or not. It is great Ammunition for Anti hunters. But that is not it. I do not like to hear gut shot either because I know it is probbly a lost deer.no matter how dedicated you are to find It. Lost one is not good either. Been there dun that. It is gut renching (or should be) not only did you take a life it is now going to go to waste. Do not like the statement bugs got to eat. Again disrespectable to the animal. The word I am.thinking of is only. YES I said ONLY. As in he was only 2 1/2 years old.
Who are you to judge a mans blood sweat and tears trophy when it has no bearing on Your lively hood. It JUST does not live up to your standards.
If only you would have passed him he would have been huge next year (if he made it)
WELL? He might be HUGE to some one now.
How would you feel if you scouted, set stands, passed deer just to kill, with a.bow that 150 inch buck that is running around your place. Only to have the neighbor, your father or possibly your mentor say (oh he is ONLY a 150 inches he would have been 170 next year.)
Sure blew a hole in your high diden it.
You are an experenced hunter. Have confidence. Hunt hard. Have respect as a good hunter yet some one sais some thing like that to you. Boy have they got gall.
But you can Handel it. What about a new or inexperienced hunter with a.couple three years under his belt.
What is the difference if it is a young hunter that just took his first buck? And some one sais it was only 1 1/2 years old.
I have heard it happen. Just wanted to Jack slap the guy. He was inconsiderate and totally out of line. Totally selfish because he wanted the buck to grow up and be a giant so he could kill it.
WHY do we care if it was ONLY 1 1/2 years old. Or ONLY 2 1/2 years old or ONLY 3 1/2 years old. Should we say it was 6 1/2 years old, guess you are picked on the blind and crippled now ain't you.
I knew a fellow that would NOT LET his young 14,13 son and daughter shoot a small buck (not because of lease or hunt club rules) because he was selfish and wanted to have big bucks so he could kill them and pat himself on.the back. Now neither are hunters. Neither ever killed a deer, buck or doe. Again the deer was ONLY 1 1/2 years old. But in whose eyes would it have been a trophy? THOSE KIDS. THATS WHO.
I guess I am saying we are our own worst enemy.we disrespect other hunters. We try to change seasons (for our own benifet with out regard for ANY other hunter(old or young rich or poor, working 6 days a week or retired) We YES WE have made it a rich mans game. How. Big bucks=money. Poor guy can not afford a lease, drive 2 hrs,buy his own land or put in a big food plot just to kill big deer. He just wants to kill a deer. ANY deer.and it has to be on public cause he can not find privet ground to hunt or afford a lease cause farmers know big deer gets big lease money. Now we got guys wanting to change seasons around so less bucks get killed and more get bigger. Even got guys complaining about youth season and them killing THIER BIG bucks.
PLEASE remember the next time you go to open your mouth who are you hurting and how? Also they are NOT your deer they are free to do as THEY please and everyone's deer to enjoy as the law sees fit.
Thank you for taking the time to read this
