Just want to take a second to introduce myself, I recently accepted a job offer for a company that is based out of Indianapolis and will be up there from November 27th until December 15th for onboarding. I would love to get into the woods during that time but have no idea where to go for the best chance at getting a doe or even a nice buck! Thanks for any advice!

Coming from Texas and will be staying on the north side in Meridian I️ believe. Not sure of my schedule just yet but was hoping there would be something within and hours drive that I️ could slip into with a bow.

Welcome aboard. Not sure of places on the north side. Atterbury would be about an hour south of where you’ll be. A little farther south than that and you also have Yellowwood forest or Morgan Monroe. It is still gun season when you get here, but not for too long. You can bow hunt during those times as well. Good luck.

The public side of atterbury is just show up and hunt. The others I mentioned are the same as well. Atterbury does have check in at the office.

I think Atterbury and Deer Creek (close to Indy) are draw hunts for the first of firearms. I would call them first. Yellowwood or Morgan Monroe have a few nice deer and plenty of hunters after them. Better hunting is mostly a 2 hour drive.

Welcome! I’m just N of Indy myself, agree extending your range to 2 hrs opens up many more options

Better hunting is mostly a 2 hour drive. This list is a good place to start. Once you narrow it down, call the property to double check whether it is draw or not, and also whether you can take a doe during that season.

Welcome!
People are nice here as in Texas. I try very hard to not go north of Meridian; south is the place to be especially for hunting.
