My son and his college bud came home for a weekend of duck hunting, they had to bust ice both ways to get to open water.

It is good for them!just be carefull out there. Did they stack em up?
I was told early in my duck hunting days that we are all freaking idiots first. An old guy that I would swap stories with at work would tell me to be more carefull and would end with, there are 2 types of duck hunters out there, Old and bold. Not many bold duck hunters make it to be old duck hunters. Then I would toss it back to him that many of his stories were not safety first...
At any rate I must be getting to the old stage as ice and boats loaded with gear can be dangerous. But those conditions can generate heck of a hunt too!

Are you seeing any numbers, are your ponds frozen. Weary duck hunter asking for a friend. Ponds are froze over, bigger/deeper lakes are still open. Still plenty of ducks flying but the numbers are getting smaller every day. This week with temp in the 20's for the high, there will be no open water soon.
