I shoot a Mission Craze and got a new string/cable on Sept 9th. The guy at the shop coached me on my shot and I've been shooting really well...until about 3 sessions ago. At first I thought it was just the wind but yesterday evening it was dead calm. First shot bulls eye, then 4 inches high, bulls eye, 4 inches low, 4 to right (what??), bulls eye, high, low....driving me nuts. On some shots I feel like I can see the arrow cork screwing. I have a bad shoulder so I try not to shoot a whole lot. Usually 5 -10 shots each session. So at this point I'm probably around the 150 shot mark on these strings. Could this be caused by string stretch?

Anymore there normally isn't much stretch on compound strings; don't think I ever had that problem when I was shooting them. B50 on my old Bear recurves; sure they will stretch a bit. If you are getting erratic arrow flight I would definitely look into the bow's set up and mechanical condition.

Thanks. I'm gonna take it to the shop this afternoon. I was hoping it could be something as simple as string stretch and just needed some readjustment. So we'll see.

Thanks. I'm gonna take it to the shop this afternoon. I was hoping it could be something as simple as string stretch and just needed some readjustment. So we'll see. A couple of thoughts. Go back to the beginning and re sight your bow. You are past the stretch issue with your shot count. Second, pay close attention to your anchor point. The wide variations in your group sound (to me) like an anchor point issue. Third, evaluate the confidence in your shot. In other words are you following through or peeking? Trust your shot. Lastly, have your arrows paper tuned with your new string. This one is a reach but I had an issue after I restrung my bow. Not so much as to explain your groups but of course that also depends on the distance at which you are practicing. Just some thoughts from an old guy who probably thinks about his accuracy or lack thereof way too much! Good luck

Thanks for input guys. Turns out it was all just me...not focusing, bad release and follow through. I guess I just threw up a bad shot that messed with my head and it went down hill from there. The bow guy said everything looked fine and coached me again on my shot. Yesterday I went out every couple of hours and shot 3 shots ultra-focusing on back tension and smooth release. I'm shooting better than I was before. What's frustrating is I went through this same process a couple of months ago and it became automatic...until Thursday.
One thing I'm still not completely sold on is having back tension trigger an index finger release. The release is attached to your wrist. So any backwards motion would just move the entire release. Seems like you have to move your finger some to activate the trigger. So I'm focusing on back tension while applying a smooth release and it's working good.
