I know some of you already had your opener but for those of us who hadn't, the anticipation is hightening. Just confirmed my new broadheads (Trying the Muzzy Trocars) shoot like field points as advertised. Confirmed at 20 and 30 yards.

Low upper 40's to mid 50's (North to South) in the morning looks good. Colder the better.

Opening day is on a Sunday and I have to work at 2. I usually don't hunt Sunday mornings because I don't like missing church. I still may slip out for at least a couple hours.

I'll go out opening evening if weather stays looking good. I don't get very serious about it until around Halloween though.

I try to go out every Oct 1 just for tradition. Just to be out! Missed last year and this year I'm heading to the Mohican State park for a Wedding. Staying in a tree house and the wedding is in a tree house. New adventure.

I'll go out opening evening if weather stays looking good. I don't get very serious about it until around Halloween though. My normal policy as well. I will probably go this Sunday just because I have a new lease and want to make sure that no one else has the illusion that they are welcome there. Also, my first few hunts are usually a bust due to not being prepared, gear in the wrong place, etc. Might as well get that aggravation out of the way.

Well I'm going early this year, need more chances, lol. Plus I figure on public ground, the early bird gets the worm type thing... there is a group or three that hit the camp ground and hunt two weeks straight, this is normally done between bow and gun season but anything is possible when it comes to the masses... I'll hunt opening morning. I Won't do afternoon as work the next day and I don't want to shoot a deer around dusk, Atleast on a sunday.

I'm still rushing trying to get everything ready. I worked from daylight till dark today hanging stands, trimming trails, putting chains on hang on stands, and doing some repairs on a couple of old ladder stands. We have 5 more stands to hang tomorrow. My knives and broad heads have been sharpened. I made a new string for my bow. I still need to wash my camo and get the rest of my gear together. I'll be out opening morning and evening. I never miss an opening day. Good luck to everyone this year.

I have only been in the woods 4 times since opening the new trail July 4th. I plan to be out because it's opening day and the massive weather shift. Could be real interesting.

Shouldn't even start until at LEAST half way through October.

Will be late oct for me. Too many other life events. Will hit the woods late oct up to opening day of gun...then 100% of my available free time to focus on waterfowl. Regardless of empty tag or not!

Agree, have to be out opening morning but we stay away from our prime stands until late October. I think with the weather change and cooler temps the AM may prove to be promising.

I like the way this man thinks. Nothing is better than feet down over decoys. Also ready to put the new dog to work. And sadly time has caught up to the old dog. Early season when it's still fairly warm will be his last few hunts. He has earned his retirement.

I am trying the Trocar HB's for the first time and so far they are awesome. I just wish Muzzy had a practice head for them. I will be out Opening day but after that I really don't hunt until later in October unless there is a weather event that looks to good to pass up.

I'll be out on the 1st. Only because I have never hunted there and it's my property.
