I've seen a lot of hunting shows where they claim to know how old a buck is just by looking at him on the hoof. I always thought the only accurate way to age a deer was by examining the teeth. What say the rest of you?

There are ways to get a close guesstimate ...
1.5 and 2.5 are usually pretty easy. 3.5 a little tougher.
4.5 and older blur together but many consider those ages "mature" and that's what they are after.
A guy might see the same deer multiple years either with his own eyes or on camera and get an accurate idea too.

After 3 years you need to look at neck or no neck and body girth.
