Don't use them if they make you pucker I found out the hard way that cooking doesn't make them not have the pucker effect I ate a LOT of pudding made of some not quite ready They make your entire insides pucker really hard to be regular if you get the drift it was terrible pucker

4 more qts last night. They are like eating candy. I will easily get over 400 bags of pulp again this year.

Mine aren't dropping yet, but it's just a matter of time. Persimmons are just about my favorite early season food source to hunt.

My grandpa has me hooked on the pudding not that I've had many chances of having some. My Ole lady found some store bought pulp. But did not compare to a very fresh dropped persimmon I tried on my great uncles place in southern indiana, it was like candy, unfortunatley I could only find one under the tree that was edible. Besides the one that my grand pa picked up and ate also.
If I could locate some trees (specifically desired in the public land I hunt) I'd be set.

Duck hunted chinook property years ago and an island in one of the pits had a nice tree and not much eating the fallen fruit. Could have got close to a bushel.
There are plenty on public ground.

Mine are not plentiful this year, in fact one of my best has none on It. Did see a lot of bag worms, maybe thats why.

Just found a persimmon tree in downtown Bloomington. Any ideas as to why this tree hasn't dropped all of its fruit yet?
I was able to get some of the lower branches so now I can give the grafting a try.

I found a set of trees week before gun opener. On the public land I hunt, all but 2 had fallen but possible it was the only two the tree produced lol, the trees were not very great looking but maybe they had dropped and deer ate them all, lots of sign in that area a big rub not to far off about 50 yds or so.
I'll try not to eat them all next year before the deer can as long as they're good.
Did see some silk type webs up there in a place or two. Are these bag worms? Do they get into the fruit?

I don't recall bugs bothering the fruit. hardest thing to do is beat the critters to the fruit. Everything eats them. My old dog would act like a vacuum cleaner rooting under the leaves. Deer, squirrels, coons, possums, fox, yotes, birds...pretty much everything but bugs
