This morning while eating my Full eclipse breakfast consisting of 1 egg sunny side up with a chocolate Moon Pie on top I suddenly had this thought that maybe the MOTHERSHIP which was coming for me at 1:18 pm might not realize that our state has several politically correct time zones and they might arrive at the wrong 1:18 pm.
At 11:00 am I left for my predetermined pickup site which was located at the PURDUE UNIVERSITY campus in Westville,Indiana and to my surprise there were hundreds of students and faculty assembled on the campus courtyard enjoying food and beverages along with free eclipse glasses,heck they even had a telescope to look through,(it appears that word must had gotten out about my good fortune and these folks wanted to witness my departure).
Well just before 1:18 pm as the sky darkened everybody was staring skyward and a loud sound was heard coming from the east so I kissed my wife and told her I loved her just as a tree trimming company hydraulic bush hog was noisily working it's way along a tree line on the campus.
Shortly after that the crowd began to disperse, tables were folded up, food was put away and the telescope was taken down while I was left sitting alone in the courtyard feeling like I might of been had.
I stayed for another hour just in case but that MOTHER ------ SHIP never arrived, as I departed I saw my wife sheepishly waving good by to me form her office window.
BAD NEWS; when I returned home I found an urgent e-mail for me from the website in the Cayman Islands apologizing because at the last minute I was bumped from my flight.The e-mail went on to say that my payment was non refundable however I am guaranteed first class passage on the next solar eclipse flight due sometime in 2024.
THE GOOD NEWS; it appears I was bumped by ROSIE O'DONNELL.
So here I sit drowning my disappointments with BLUE MOON beer ringed with a sun bright yellow lemon slices floating on top as I try to determine what might be the winning numbers for this Wednesdays power ball drawing.
I just wanted you all to know it's good to be back.
