I'm googling it and can't find anything regarding recent EHD scares. Could you elaborate on what you've heard?

Wasn't going to specify where reports had been forwarded to me from but if true makes complete sense why we haven't heard anything from the sources I listed. Thanks Greg.

People freak out when they hear EHD dead deer. It happens, it's unfortunate but it's part of a deers life. Deer have been dieing from EHD for as long as I have been hunting. Most years just a few and on occasion several. Unfortunately not much you can do.

Nothing is guaranteed or fair in hunting and or life. Roll with mature nature punches and flow with the wind.

EHD Usually accompanies drought conditions, and thankfully we've had plenty of moisture this summer. Longest dry spell we had was the previous ten days or so, and it's raining as I type this.
I've not heard of any in this part of the state. If you spend much time out and about on your farm you will smell those dead deer, and most of them will start showing up from now thru October. Had it pretty bad in 2012, I found 7-8 dead ones on my little farm.

The question is - what does the KDFW do with those numbers?

With those numbers ... nothing. If they start to really climb I guess they might try something drastic but short of cutting the season or limiting tags what can they do?

Fox 59 is saying this is the dryest August in 16 years. The creek through camp is extremely low. The EHD hit will get worse this year, or at least it will appear that way because of recognition and social media.

The KDFW said when asked - "Mainly track reported mortalities and sicknesses to understand and communicate the magnitude and geographic scope of the outbreaks. This information together with annual harvest and public input will be used to evaluate and modify if necessary the zoning for some counties in subsequent years."

Isn't that what Indiana basically does as well?
