Hi guys, I just moved out to Terre Haute from PA to work at another one of our companies facilities. I mainly archery hunted in PA and am hoping to get some hunting in out here. I will most likely end up doing more fishing than anything as I have twin 7 year old boys who are all excited to move out here and catch fish they have never caught in PA. We mainly trout fished and fished the Susquehanna and feeder creeks for smallmouths. I am already living in Terre Haute, my family will be moving out the end of the month. I will be bringing my little 14 footer with a 9.9 and our kayaks out with us. I am sure I will be looking for advice on some general bodies of water and what baits work best out here.

paleftyWe have some good smallmouth north of you. We have plenty of fishable water near you also. I wouldn't try to take the Mighty Wabash on with that boat however If you want pm me and maybe I can help you out further

Thanks for warm welcome. Swetz I am from the Hershey/Harrisburg area of PA, where did you move from? I was looking around this weekend and seems like there is a lot of water around. How is the public ground in Indiana? In PA it isnt to bad in archery season but once rifle season open its best to keep your distance as there are people everywhere.

That's basically how it is here unless you can hunt week days or in poor weather

Welcome! If I had a boat and lived in Terre Haute, I would focus on the Wabash properties the DNR bought with little or no road access but only if you want to shoot a mature buck.

I'm from SW PA, about 40 minutes south of Pittsburgh. As far as public land in Indiana, I don't know as I just hunt private ground.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a bit more south than you, Evansville. Look up public land and fishing holes in the hunting and fishing guide on the site here. Should find what your lookin for.
