This is so sad when this happens. I have never ever shot at game that I wasn't 10,000% sure was an actual game animal. Unbelievable!!!

Why is a guy shooting at feathers? Not a turkey hunter here but was under impression head shots were best bet for turkey not body/tail

I'm not totally sticking up for the shooter, but people have to realize buck fever, or in this case turkey fever sets in and makes us all a little dumber. It's a chemical release in the brain. We can all sit here and say the shooter was stupid for not seeing a head or making sure it was a real animal, but I don't completely blame him. Both parties set this up to be a terrible accident. I'm just glad nobody got killed.

The "feathers" (according to the article and they are always right, aren't they?) might have been more than a fan but also a simulation of the breast and head. Any time I use decoys I ALWAYS have a clear view straight out at least 75 yards OR I have a big tree between myself and the decoys. Where have you been larryhagmansliver? We've missed your words of wisdom...

I memory serves me correctly I believe that most hunting "accidents" in recent times involve another member of the hunting party. Are there stats on this somewhere?
