I pulled a 6 x 10 wood decked trailer out of the woods. Deck replacementioned is easy.
How do I determine if axle needs replaced?
It pulls easy, no noise. I think it is ok but really no idea how to assess

When I see them on the side of the road, I figure they need something.
I'd say keep the wheel bearings greased, and it should let you know if there's another problem.
I did replace the hubs on the old duck boat trailer. I just grease the bearings once a year on the hunting trailer. The tires lasted 10 years; I thought this was good.

Duff.... The axle should be good, I would just pull the hubs and replace the bearings and seals. After I check to make sure the axle tube is not bent, It should have a bow upwards for weight compensation, but front to back should be strait.

There is a bow in the axle so I am good. Getting new hubs in a day or two. Then will finish painting and running new wires & lights. Put new tire & wheels then the deck. Probably will have $400 in it by the time I can use it. So much for free😅
