Anyone have any first hand experience with this new bow? At first glance I am extremely impressed. The only negative I can see right now is the proprietary bolts / nocks. You are going to spend about $100 for a half dozen bolts...ouch! Thoughts? ravincrossbows.com/

I think there are a lot of good crossbows on the market. I've never heard of these, but it sure shoots fast.
I'm not thinking that I'll ever take a very long shot at a deer with my crossbow. Actually, the longest shot I've taken is probably 20yds.
The reason for me is the length of time to reach the target, even at 425f/s. At a certain distance, it gives them plenty of time to react, and I'd just hurt them and lose lots of sleep.
I do like a fast shooting xbow though, so I like this one. I still wouldn't shoot any further. I'm not very good at this sport.

Go over to the Crossbow Talk forum. It's like a soap opera there the way its members are fighting with each other over this bow and the new Scorpyd bow. If you can sort through all the BS there is some good info on the new Ravin there. Here's a link. www.archerytalk.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=46

Totally agree on limiting the distance jon but the extra speed should help reduce the rainbow trajectory!
Thanks for the link mm660

I shot this bow at the ATA show, It seemed well made. They have two models. One is 390 fps and $1,500 The other is 425 fps and $2,000 New Ravin crossbow.. Horton has a new reverse limb that is the Storm's Little Brother and shoots 340 fps and retails for $799. www.hortoncrossbows.com/shop/vortec-rdx-crossbow-package/There is something about a brand new crossbow company introducing a brand new crossbow that would have me just a little bit leery.

From what I have seen all dealer should have a press. I think if a guy wants the press you can buy it for another 275 bucks. Did you like it when you tried it out. I heard it was very loud, but at that FPS deer will never hear it. I may be wrong, but I think RDT bows and the Ravin concept is the future of all crossbows. I did see where Tenpoint has a new reverse cam draw bow on the market, but very expensive. I guess using this idea cost big money.

It was louder than either of my bows.. Horton Storm RDX and TenPoint Stealth SS.
I don't think sound is that big a deal. As you said it will be the last sound the deer hears..
Yes, I'd say if a crossbow dealer sell the Ravin they should have the tools to service them, what I'm hearing big is serving wear is pretty quick on them.. around 200 shots.
Personally I'd wait a year before I'd drop $1500 to $2000 on a brand new bow..

Thanks for the input WW. I am not one to purchase something brand new such as this crossbow. I like to wait and let them get the bugs worked out or see that the bugs cannot be worked out.
I hope I am a few more years away from needing to go to a crossbow.

That looks like a pretty wicked crossbow. But that price.... That crossbow costs 5x what mine did new. I can't understand why they are so expensive. I don't think it will kill deer 5x better than mine.

Woody did you check out the new Killer Instinct Swat bow? It looks like it may be a new concept in the crossbow world. I think it will open up some eyes in the design department for many companies.

Claiming that the Ravin is your next rifle. Evidently they never have danced with the anti crossbow vertical bowhunter crowd that fought tooth and nail to stop the inclusion of crossbows in archery season.

I did not get around to that one. Here is a pretty good write up on most of the crossbows at the ATA.. www.bowhuntingmag.com/ata-show-2017/ata-2017-best-new-crossbows/I know exactly what your talking about on the "rifle" thing. Apparently the owner of this company wasn't around for any of the crossbow wars for inclusion. The more the crossbow inclusion had happened the more some manufacturers started coming out of the woodwork wanting a piece of the crossbow pie. IMO - crossbowers need to support the people that supported us - true crossbow companies and not the Johnny Come Latelys

agree with Woody on this one. Looks good, but what if they are out of business in a couple of years?
I would stick with a well known brand. Excalibur is what I hunt with now. I would recommend a Ten Point too if you wanted to go the compound route
Excalibur is my bow of choice though. I can change the strings at home or in the field with no bow press and I can de-cock it in the field after a hunt without shooting it. No others can do this.

I recently looked @ one of these @ BassPro. The employees/customers had shot it 20 times (according to the guy @ the bow counter I talked to) and the serving on the string was already showing substantial wear. He also told me it was very loud.
Between this being a new company, the cost, having to use special arrows, the string wear I saw, etc...I would have a really hard time buying one of these.
Too many unknowns @ a very high price...
