The piece of public land that my group has hunted on for YEARS borders a private parcel which has just come under new ownership. Access to the private parcel and the spot that we park at are via a short paved road (I'm confident it's a county maintained road as it's named and is posted with a standard green street sign post). The new owner has now posted Private Property signs at the end of that short paved road. My question is who should I show the GIS map to, to clarify if there are easement rights to the public land OR have we've been "tresspassing" all these years. There's not been any encounters with the new (or the old) landowner yet but I suspect the purpose of the sign is to announce presence of new owner and his/her desire to not have folks tresspassing, which I can undestand if that's the case. But would like solid confirmation either way before giving up a parking spot we've hunted from for years. The spot in question is in southern Monroe County around Paynetown Recreation Area. Thank you.

Your best approach would be to speak with the property manager and they should be able to inform you of the easements that are available for the property. The other avenue would be to see the county assessor and/or surveyor office to see what they show as being the appropriate property boundaries.
