I was just looking at more decoys to fill out my spread and saw a coyote predator decoy for scaring off geese and crows. That got me to wondering if anyone had ever used a predator in a un-huntable field (city limits, size, house proximity, etc.) that is being used to try to keep birds from landing there-to hopefully go to another field within sight that has other birds (like my decoys) in it.
....or is this even legal??? I know one can't harass wildlife but if the landowner doesn't want them there and a predator decoy is used is that harassment??
Thanks in advance!!!

Private property I wouldn't think so but then I am not a Conservation officer. I had a few fields in town the geese would use when they were avoiding me,I parked a truck in the middle of that field when I was hunting my fields.

I used to have a picture of a goose nose to nose to one at lake lemon. Don't know why it would be illegal but the doctor realize they are fake unless probably moved around a lot.

I seen where they did a experiment with coyote silhouettes in a urban area. They kept the deer away for a couple days then they came back and didn't pay any attention to them. So I would assume you would have to move them daily to have any lasting effect.

I wouldn't put it out until the same day that I was trying to get them closer to me.

If your talking about the field I think you are I think it's a good idea. I saw it was being cut yesterday. Are the birds in it already?

They have them here in Greenfield at some of the smaller ponds in town where the geese gather. It does no good, the geese just feed right beside the Coyote silhouette.
