I had a buddy get a monster 12 out of there a couple years back, and has been producing nice does for him regularly. That's about the extent of my knowledge on it.

During gun season it will be very crowded and probably not the best place to be hunting public ground in Pike county. The camp grounds will be full up opening weekend. There are better less crowded public land to hunt in Pike, but you need to put on your walking boots and get back in the spoil banks where few dare to go. Patoka Wildlife Refuge and Sugar Ridge has some good hunting all public land that is located in Pike and Gibson county. If you were a bowhunter these areas offer excellent, early season hunting with little competition. Gun season, the crowds will show up opening weekend in full force, but during the week days it's not near as bad. I have been a "Piker" for the last 20 years and grew up living on the Pike-Gibson line on the Gibson side so it didn't take me long to develop a Piker's way of life LOL.
