Well? How'd it go? I was able to run Fred n Bella this morning for an hour or so before going to my in-laws. Fred found his voice again had a screaming run out of both of them for about 30 minutes. Thick stuff, no rabbits were harmed lol They did get some fur in their mouth yesterday morning though

Got a few good runs going but only one busted bunny. WW has mowed strips far too wide, as span pointed out, which leads to easy snacks for hawks and other predators. After a while of fruitless effort, we migrated over to another part of the property and had way more luck. Overall, still a great day and a much needed break.

Started off hunting a spot I've always had luck at. First thing I noticed was they are mowing paths way too big. Most of the paths were at least two passes with the bush hog. Too many trees for the predators to sit in and dine. We hunted several hours but just couldn't get one to jump. Dogs seemed to be smelling one a couple of times but just couldn't jump it.
Decided to head to another spot that I used to hunt and same thing with the paths. Pushed the dogs to a little hidden spot I knew and they finally jumped one. It was obviously a buck rabbit because he took a beeline to the property line. They circled him back and ran dang near the end of the other property. Finally got the two other hunters lined up as the dogs were bringing him back but unfortunately for them they ran it right at me. Needed the pup to get a taste of hair and to see how he would react to the shot, so I had to take it. Let the dogs find it and my blue dog brought it to me. I let the pup chew on it for a bit and then took em to cool off a bit in the water. Ran that one real well and the pup did good picking up several checks and let quite a bit.
Headed back a bit farther and they were acting real rabbity but couldn't jump it. Took them awhile sniffing around and I seen the bunny skirt out the backside. Called them over and put em on the bunny and it was off and running. They flat hammered this one. I think all said and done they circled this one three times. They were getting closer to it and I was sure they were going to catch it as he wasn't that too far in front of the dogs. They broke down and called them off the rabbit. Couldn't get anyone to get a shot on this one even though we seen the rabbit several times because they were so close to the bunny and didn't want any shot up dogs.
They jumped another but he ran straight off the property onto another farm. Had to call them off that one.
All in all great running for what we had to work with. Very dry conditions. Warm, it got close to 70°. Few rabbits. The ones we did get up they did real well. Very happy with my pup. He is only 6 months but he showed up and hung with the older dogs and showed he had what it takes to be a lead dog. Pretty much my blue year and a half old and the 6 month old showed the other dogs up. Just can't hang with the speed. All in all we put 13 miles running on them and they didn't quit. In that heat, I'm impressed with what I have and the future of my kennel.
