My carbon arrows for my Excalibur crossbow are only 355 grains including the 100 grain Wasp Hammer broadhead. It is fairly quick at 333 fps, which adds up to some serious KE..
I've only had one arrow that didn't exit the body on the other side of the deer and stick in the ground. That one hit the shoulder blade on the exit side. It still got through the hide and gave two blood trails.
I don't see carbons presenting a pass through problem unless the bow is a fairly light weight poundage.
I've got about 6 dozen various sizes of aluminums and about 2 dozen carbons. Either one is a lifetime's supply for me..

I've never had a problem with carbons penetrating either but if you are concerned about the lack of weight you can buy weight inserts to add to your arrows.

GT XT Hunter 5575. Used to shoot vanes on them but just switched back to feathers. Going to pick up my Bitz jig today and plan on doing some experimenting.

I shoot the PSE comp pro's. I have started to use the 360 hyperspeed uni bushings and the G knock. this helps me Not to Robin hood my arrows, or crack them when I group tune.

How do the unibushings and G-Nock affect the weight of your arrow? Any noticeable difference in speed of arrow or flight of arrow? Thanks!

Shot three deer during Bow season with pretty light carbon arrows,60 lb bow, 100 grain tip. all three complete pass thru. all three fell with in 30 yards. Carbon seems to be a little more accurate, and faster.

Hoyt. There is almost no difference in weight. I think one grain is all But when I get a chance I will check that out again and let you know. Woody. I don't get many of those Robin Hoods anymore (smile) but I was cracking the knock ends a lot. I haven't done that at all since. Now I have sliced the bushings with a broadheads though, and they even survived that, so far.

I just started shooting carbons this year. Had good success and a lot of pass thrus with my XX78s, but I jumped on the bandwagon. Bought some Easton Axis ST shafts this year. I've had three of them split at the insert-end of the arrow. I'm not sure if the HIT is all its cracked up to be. Any opinions?

Buy GoldTip when you get a chance James. They have varying degrees of straightness and weight tolerances but even their lower-end arrows are pretty good.
