I use 18" Gold Tip Laser lls with 100 gr Slick Tricks for my Vixens and 20" Beman Thunderbolts with 125 gr Slick Tricks for my Ecalibur Paradox.
On my Martin verts I use 30" Carbon Express fat shafts, also with Slicks. Once you go to carbons, you wont want to go back.

Used to shoot Easton XX75's.... and never had any complaints. Buddy from the shop convinced me to try the GT 5575's. Shot my first 3, made a few sight a adjustments and on the next 3 got my first robin hood. I'm hooked

XX75, resisting the carbons. Too many aluminum ones laying around. When I find a good buy on the shafts I shoot I buy them so I always have new ones laying around.

Old XT 5575 Gold tips.......the ones with small gold letters, in fact only lost 3 of these, two to a robin hood and one that didn't slow down through a 7 pointer 2 years ago when I was hunting from a ground blind. All others still accounted for.

Remember what a pain it was always straightening those aluminums? Yep, I usually gave up and broke them in half and threw them away..

Question?
I have nice equipment, but am pretty old school and uninformed regarding the latest & greatest things in archery. My buddy and I were shooting 40 yards last evening, and I was quite impressed regarding how much flatter his lightweight carbon arrows shot compared to my heavy aluminum shafts. Too late to switch gear for this year, but may consider for next.
I was always of the opinion that a heavy arrow is a good idea for hunting, for better penetration. Do you think penetration could be an issue with the lighter weight arrows?

I have only had one Gold Tip that didn't pass thru a deer either with the Gold Tip Gladiator or Muzzy broad head, and that's because the spine stoped it on a downward shot from 25 feet above him, Unscrewed it and still shoot it today. Same here, I shoot NAP expandables and only once was denied a pass thru, shot high and hit the spine. Dropped that deer like someone threw a switch. Still have and can still shoot that arrow. To anyone that hasn't tried them, I reccomend the Blackhawk Vapor Pro series, straightness of .0018" and you can get a dozen for about $50
