I would think there has to be other reasons other than hoarders, after all if you can sell it as fast as you can get it and turn a profit why not keep selling it. Makes sense.

I was in Walmart last weekend and they had a few boxes of .22 on the shelf. I didn't ask if they were going to discontinue it or not as the guy working there was tied up with customers.
In the end, I've noticed that most retailers I frequent (BassPro, Dick's and my lgs) seem to have plenty of .22 ammo in stock. H*ll, my local Meijer actually had .22 ammo in stock for the first time in 3 or 4 years.

I dont think its fair to blame the hoarders, after the last election cycle and newtown, theyre just being smart.
I dont know what defines a hoarder, i just know I have enough ammo and components to last me another shortage

Local store in Aurora was sold out when I asked last week. What I hear is happening Is employees buy it up as soon as it gets in as they get employee discounts , then resale. Same thing is happening at Orschelns. You can give them your name and they will hold 1 day for you. Bass Pro you can only buy 1 box per visit.

On a side note. You can buy .22 LR online all day 500 rounds $50.00-$55.00. I know someone who works at local store and had them get me 500 rounds couple months ago. Like I said employees get discount buy them up and resale and make a little side money.

It was the same couple guys there early a.m. and using wives etc to nab it all before it hit the shelves. The old man that used to work sporting goods told me that months ago. Had to be there by 8am day it came in to get it.
I've seen guys bragging about having twenty thousand rounds or more

I've seen guys bragging about having twenty thousand rounds or more I had at least 20K rounds of .22LR (Remington and Winchester) -- all bought at Wal-Mart AFTER the shortage began, and I sold ALL of it to various friends and acquaintances for what I had in it. No profits for me. I've still got a couple thousand CCI subsonics that I saved back for my suppressed .22 rifle. I have friends who have way over 20K rounds and aren't even buying anymore.

None left to buy at Walmart, and they've given up on stocking it just to supply a couple greedy buyers. Meanwhile, hundreds of others having trouble finding it.
22s, the backbone of future generations of potential shooters....stockpiled in the safes of a few. Crazy.
Just my opinion. Only matters to me
I've got about a thousand rounds. Pass it up when I do see it so those less fortunate MIGHT get them some

I saw it at both the Wal-Mart and Dunham's Sporting Goods in Bedford last weekend, and had no use for buying any. Recently, Acme Sports in Seymour was advertising having something like 1 million plus rounds of .22LR in stock.

Cause they paid the stockers to inform them when it hit the shelves. Kinda makes ya mad doesn't it?

I bought 525 Remington bulk last night at Wal-Mart in Terre Haute for around $30. I realize that isn't cheap or premium ammo by any means, but it is the first time I have seen ANY 22 ammo in Wal-Mart for YEARS!

not sure a retail store should care who buys their stock. Goal is to have it on the shelves as short as possible. Seems to go against business goals to stop stocking a hot item.
