I was at my local Walmart yesterday and was told by the sporting goods manager they (Walmart) have removed 22 long rifle ammo from the list of items that can be ordered for the shelves.

I overheard the same at my local walmart. The person working said it will be a special item from now on.

Good article but that was all just the writers opinion !! I believe that article was written in 2007 (based on the copyright date near the bottom of the page). That coincides with the time when Walmart was phasing out gun sales in many of their stores. As far as .22 ammo goes? I have no idea, but it would make little sense to me to sell everything but the number 1 selling type of ammo.

I wondered the same but didn't read the article. I know Bedford walmart didn't sell guns in 2009 but they do now. Can't imagine they would revert back to a failed policy unless the rules changed impacting the profits.

I know of no official halt to ordering. I know we can't keep it.
I can confirm that the company has tilted leftward in it's politics.

Sas: could this be a regional thing? it was the LaPorte store. I live near the laporte Walmart and frequent the store. I overhead the lady in sporting goods say they don't even have a spot on the shelf for it anymore.

I was at Walmart on Lima Rd, Ft Wayne TODAY 9/8/16 and bought 2 boxes of Win. 22. They had a good stock of it and CCI Mini-Mags. Also had some 17HMR. 9mm, 45ACP, .380, .38 Special... Even had a box of 45-70. I did not ask if they would get more or were discontinuing it.

West Lafayette Walmart has .22's and not enough room on the shelf for more from what the clerk told me Sunday when I stopped and got my waterfowl and upland gamebird license/stamp (used to do it online at home but not paying for that "convenience" now!)

Well I'll be.......
I was at Greenfield Walmart today, talked to the guy in sporting goods ( one that actually knows his stuff) Asked if he had anny 22 ammo., nope. Asked if they had been getting it in...nope He then showed me they had removed the label for them from the shelf even.
So its true......not going to stock it anymore.
He was as confused as me as to why.
They carry EVERYTHING else in good supply.
Smh in disbelief
Until just very recently they had a spot for it along with a sign saying 3 box limit
I blame each and every hoarder for this! If you know someone like that, thank them for me, and every other sportsportsman and untold thousands of kids!! Their greed has taken Americas most popular round off the shelves of Americas largest retailer. Way to go, jerks!
Be buying from overpriced Gander now..... When it can be had

I would think there has to be other reasons other than hoarders, after all if you can sell it as fast as you can get it and turn a profit why not keep selling it.
