I'm new to the smartphone scene, but trying to get acquainted with he one my son bought me.
He installed a GPS app, but it's one intended for use on streets and I'd like one more useful in the woods.
I see some advertised that would appear to have some useful features. Just fishing for whatever advice I might pick up from guys who have used them hunting and fishin, that might be helpful in selecting the best app for my needs.
I'll be using it here in IN, my out-of-state trips are history. Be handy if it can tell me my speed of travel. I have used that info in the past to compare trolling motors, for instance, and it's pretty hard to judge them with any other method.
Aside from that, I'd say ease of use would be a major concern. Have had a few handheld GPS units, and I was able to get the hang of the basics, but never became really handy with them. Old dog, new tricks....
TIA for any advice.
