I called our charter Captain to confirm our 2 day trip and found out that the new Indiana state Lake Trout record fish was caught on a lure that he made. Our charter captain owns Yeck lure company and he manufactures a lot of equipment used by trout and salmon fisherman. www.ludingtonpolecat.com/

Dang! We did talk about waterfowling a bit-said that he can't get enough of it but said nothing about starting a DU chapter...guess that doesn't surprise me though because I got the feeling that he can be an "under stated" person. That was our first trip with him but definitely not the first time we had met though-we had chartered with Capt Scott Bolka for probably over 20 years until Scott decided sell his boat (that was 18 years ago as near as we can figure). Steve and Scott had worked together pretty much the whole time we fished with Scott-always talking back and forth on the radio and comparing data/lure colors/depth/numbers/etc then comparing catches when back at the dock. The charter captains seem to be a pretty tight knit group always ready to help each other whenever possible-there were several standing at the dock waiting help us get stuff off the boat and ready to go after helping Steve get the boat docked. I think we did pretty good with 10-3 kings, 3 lakers and the rest coho of pretty good size. However there had been a very nasty lightening/thunder storm over the whole area the night before and Steve was not happy with our catch but not much he could do with the fish and bait all scattered. We'll be back though!!! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I've got pics but as most of you know I'm not computer savvy enough to have figured out how to post 'em on here yet... Oh yeah...and the former Capt Scott Bolka? Well as Steve is fond of saying-Scott's gone over to the dark side now- fishing bass tournaments with a decked out "color matching to trailer and truck" bass boat

The next time you go out with him let me know and I will give you a bunch of stories about him and you can have a good time teasing him and he will never know where it's coming from. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

My buddy is doing the mount on that fish. Hunters Edge taxidermy in LaPorte. I just took him my friends 30" walleye Sunday to have mounted.
