nfalls116, I already know what's listed in the two websites. FYI....I always pay ANY taxes due, so this is a non-issue for me. My property is located in a very rural part of my county; and some 95 miles from either Louisville or Lexington.

Isn't it located near the river? When the Mississippi flooded land in Missouri back in the 1990's, the Government condemned several land parcels, and the owners lost their land. One doesn't know what's in the Government's mind these days.

Ill just use the Jedi mind trick on them .... this is not the property you are looking for. The property you are looking for is south of here and owned by Dave.
And just smile as they walk away .....

How is acknowledging the fact that "owning" your own ground does not equate to free hunting trolling? Claiming so is just as silly as saying venison is "free" or much cheaper than you can buy beef at the store for. It does equatevto free hunting. Would still own the land if I did not hunt. It was bought to farm. Hunting is just a FREE fringe benefit. One of my Osage self bows was made for me FREE n exchange for the bowyer cutting an Osage tree off that farm. My arrows I make myself from hill cane that was gifted to me, the heads are stone...also free of charge. Even IF I pay the $80 to have a deer processed...that's about 60 pounds of lean meat for $80. Go see how many steaks n burger you get at the grocery store for that amount. Then tell me venison isn't cheaper Hunting costs as much or as little as you want it. No arguing that fact.

My opinion is that if you own land and live on it without making habitat improvements, then you are spending the same amount whether you hunt it or not. In that case, you could say that you are hunting it for free (as far as a place to hunt goes.)
Myself, I'm hunting as close to free as one probably can. I hunt other peoples' property for free. The properties surround my home, so I can walk if I choose. I'd own and shoot firearms and bows even if I did not hunt, so I can exclude their costs. I paid something like $150 for my climbing stand 15 or so years ago, so figure $10/year at this time for its usage. The same goes for my ancient, starting-to-get-ratty camo.
I bought my lifetime license for $525 back in the 90's, and if you add up all the tags, it has been paid off for a decade. I own a single trail camera, and continue to use it each year. I don't have food plots, nor do I own an ATV. About my only considerable cost is deer processing. And if I'd take the time away from hunting to process my own deer, I could eliminate that cost as well.

For the vast majority venison is not cheaper. If you count a person's time as part of the equation then that vast majority changes to every hunter without exception.
Oh yeah....I disagree in the land thing too. Surprised aren't ya....

Some folks can work their mind around something being "free" and some can't. In my mind there is very, very little in this world that is free and hunting just isn't one of them.

I made a birdhouse. Today how's that for habitat enhancment We've got a robin with a nest in a low-lying limb over our driveway. My wife watched her out the window yesterday evening as the storm pounded her, and she remained steadfast on her eggs through it all. I bet she'd have appreciated a dry house.
