7.65x 53 Argentin is considered a legal caliber in Indiana or not. My dad picked one up years ago he can't see much anymore. Might use it to get him a deer. Your dad's rifle takes cartridges with bullets having diameters from roughly .311 to .313 inches. Please note in the cartridge name (7.65 x 53 Argentine) it takes bullets larger in diameter than 7.62 caliber cartridges, such as the 7.62 x 51 NATO (commercially named .308 Winchester, which takes bullets of .308 inches in diameter). Thus, it does not make the cut -- at least not this year. 7.62x51 takes a .308 (308 Winchester) while a 7.62x39 (AK-47 round) takes a .312 bullet. The 7.65x53 takes a .313 bullet. So if you want to use the 7.65x53 have some loaded with bullets that are loaded with the .312 and you will be legal and it will be safe to shoot. I would use the ammo it the way it is.

Still sick over the .270 not being included. It makes little sense, to me, why the .270 is exempted and the 30-06, its parent, and slightly more powerful, cartridge is allowed. I have a .243, a 6mm and a .308 so I will comply until this is corrected.......robin
