Until you see a for sale sign on it, I wouldn't bet on a lot of Peabody's ground being offered to the public. I'm betting someone, probably from Evansville, ends up with most of it. Check the web site I posted earlier. I've already seen land that wasn't "posted" for sale, sold. My parents thought about buying some of it - they contacted a realtor, who contacted Peabody's Real Estate branch, and got a list and maps of property for sale form north of Clay City to south of Sullivan... and that was two or three years ago.

Most if not all of their ground in Warrick county that is East of HWY 61, will most likely be sold to one person. There are houses on some other ground that was Peabody's 5 years ago.

I believe Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge is actually leased from the Army. I believe the USFWS had a 15 or 25 year lease agreement with the army to manage the Jefferson Proving Ground base as Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge.
So it is very possible that one day Big Oaks may no longer exist. The area could easily go back to a full time military base like it used to be.

Are they fencing the entire place or just the Refuge part??? I don't know Ill find out Heard they were connecting BOK and The Homeland Security site with a tunnel That is major news if it is true. That could really change things in that area. As you know there is still a lot of good training area and good roads on the refuge. The Air Force still has their training area also. If they are putting up a new fence they must plan on doing something with the area. That fence runs for dozens of miles around all four sides of the refuge.

1987....when Minehaha was brand new.... articles.latimes.com/1987-03-15/news/mn-10713_1_prime-hunting"It sounds so doggone good it scares you," said Seketa, chief of properties for IDNR's Division of Fish and Wildlife. "Everyone in the department is tickled to death with it. "We couldn't have had better cooperation with big industry. You couldn't find a better example of industry, government and conservation working together."

One individual bought most of it and is now leasing it through basecamp Ran into some guys from Indy who just leased some it for 45/acre a couple years ago. They had no idea it used to be public ground. Wonder if they had any trespassing issues? ![](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f363/JUSTIN1980/Screen%20Shot%202016-02-15%20at%208.33.49%20AM_zpsrybivyt7.png) Until you see a for sale sign on it, I wouldn't bet on a lot of Peabody's ground being offered to the public.
