Can anyone direct me to some threads on teal hunting? It's pretty far away here in Indiana but I want to start researching. Just looking to find out what I need to do different compared to hunting for the standard ducks here in Indiana (mallards, gadwall, woodduck, pintail etc...)? So far I've gathered their calling is different and you need teal specific decoys. Other than that it seems pretty similar.

No special decoys needed. Just be good at being able to id them on the wing. Being where they are is the best plan :-)
They really like goose decoys

Never would have thought about the goose decoys. If you don't use teal dekes do you just use a mallard call or not call at all?

Mallard calls work. I don't specifically hunt for teal, but we have plenty of luck during normal hunting seasons.
Know what spoonies and woodducks look like.

It's good advice actually. I can't identify a duck type in the air, but my ice fishing buddy can. He can't hear a lick, but he sure can see good.
When I do hunt them, I want everything to be in season or I'll be in trouble.

Teal like duck weed. The place we used to hunt them was full of it. Seemed like in the mornings when all the big ducks and geese would take off in search of food that's when all the teal would start showing up. I use about two dozen teal hen decoys and have decent luck. I have a blue wing call but really they commit even before you normally see them. They buzz right over your head from out of no where.
