then i soak it in a half and half mix water/bleach for another 6-10 hours then soak it in pure water for a full 24 hours this stops the bleach from"eating " the skull i did not get the final pics on this one as my buddy picked it up the same day it was done, if you notice the skull is yellow and like a reddish purple don't worry when dried it will be pure white, i am just starting another tonight i will take pics and post later.

Just a word to the wise so you dont ruin your trophies. Boiling a skull and bleaching a skull are both no no's in the Taxidermy field. Both tend to soften and break down the bone and turn it yellow. Not saying you cant do them yourself just saying be real careful if in doubt spend a little money and let your taxidermist do it right. Hope im not steping on any toes just giving you a heads up !!! Good luck all !!!!! TAXI MAN

Looks great so far. One suggestion I could add, would be to let it sit in the sun for a week or two. When I boil mine they go for 5 hours(depending on deer) Then I use a hot water hose and "blow" off all the meat. I only dunk mine in 90-10 hot water/bleach soulution for about a min after I get them cleaned. Then let them sit in the sun and they turn nice and white. It only takes me about 7 mins to skin the head, then another 20 to clean them. Here is one a customer didn't want so I euroed it for myself.

FINALLY!!! [/color][/b] Here he is..................................................... I started this thread to show the progress thru, and now I've got it complete and hanging on the wall. A very fun project to work on! Cost me $27 for the plaque, and some time spent.

GREAT JOB!!
I really like the mounting board for it. That puts the head and antlers at the proper angle for viewing.
You did well...

Thanks guys!
Others are probably alot quicker, BUT this is how it went with me..... and of course, I wasn't in any hurry!
-It took me about 45 mins to skin the head and get it as clean as I could before the boiling process. -I "simmered" the head with Dawn for about two and a half hours, then picked it clean as possible. Simmered it again with clean solution for about another 2 hrs, then picked it completely clean. -I soaked the skull in water, bleach, and peroxide for about 10-12 hrs over night. Then let it dry completely! -I then soaked it in another clean solution for about 6hrs. Then directly put it in pure water for about 6 hrs............ that's it!
Then it took me a while to find just the right plaque for it, and then I had to back-order it as they were having to make more of them! Took a couple weeks to get it, then took about 30mins to plaque the skull!!
It's well worth the time spent I think, to have a special trophy preserved by your own self.
