Opinions on trying to spray fescue grass during the next warmup in order to frost seed in febuary?
Or just wait until this fall to prep ground.
Wanting to plant a strip 40-50' x 300 yds along cedar field edge.

as long as the fescue is still active spray it!! It will take several days maybe even weeks before it shows signs of dying but it will. Spray it when its at least 40 degrees outside and use a ams adjuvant with your glyphosate.

This past year I replanted my place to Big Blue Stem grass, Fox tail, and wild flowers. I began as soon as the snow was gone and the ground was dry enough to burn the entire area. The next step was to wait for the plants to begin regrowing then when they were about 10-12 inches tall I sprayed the entire area with Cornerstone and Crossbow added. It took several weeks to see the complete burn down however I planted using a no till planter after about 2 weeks. The grasses took about 3 weeks to really start showing up and when they got about 14 inches tall I mowed carrying the mower at about 10 inches high. I then spot sprayed ares of Milkweed and then mowed again when it got up to 14 inches or better. The end result was a nearly perfect field of grasses and wild flowers by September.
I intend to spot spot spray some Velvet leaf that showed up in late fall and then I will mow maybe once this spring. What I did was at the direction of a retired state biologist who does plantings and advising for a retirement job.
