Thanks Woody there is a good story behind them if you don't mind long windedness. I love hearing and telling good stories. One of the best things about hunting.

Here is the story that goes with these two deer. My dad and I had been hunting this one particular property for 5 days off and on during the shotgun season. I was hunting on the ground for the most of it as I had a hernia operation about 1 month earlier. Dad was hunting in my ladder stand. He had spent about 20 hours or more in that tree and not seen a thing. On the sixth day of the hunt dad says lets not say the traditional good luck before we leave it's not working for us. He also wanted top switch spots with me. My father comes from a long tradition of central Ontario deer camps where they hunt with dogs and this sitting in tree things just didn't seem right to him. I said come on dad there have been 6 deer shot out of that tree in the last 2 years and don't remember how many in the last 5. If you put your time in that tree you'll get something. Dad says well you're the expert at this so I'll give it one more morning. I dropped him off along the road as I was hunting elsewhere on the property that morning. He had about a 10 minute walk into the stand so he was sitting by 5:45am. I got to my watch about the same time. It was one of those mornings where you can almost fell something is going to happen. You know the days crisp fresh air, a little light snow falling, and no wind in the air. Just starting to think to myself man this is the day. At 6:30 I hear a shot ring through the swamp. I call dad on the radio and ask if it was him. Sure enough it was. He says I can't believe it a doe just came around behind me right into the clearing and stopped broadside at about 20 yards. Shot, she bounced twice then went down. After I congratulated him he says well are you coming to help. I said no way it's not even 6:40 yet, told him to hang tight in the tree so maybe I could get a chance at one. Got off the radio and lite up a celebration cigar. Not five minutes later I hear another shot. Get back on the radio and said, hey dad, did the doe get up. He said nope just shot a buck he was following her trail like a hound on a hot track. I said yep the rut is bieutiful. Well that was that tags full so I went to get him. Once I got to his stand he showed me the doe which was very nice. I said so where's the buck. He said I'm not sure I got pretty excited when he came in. So I said where was he when you shot him, he said same place as the doe. I went over to see if I could tell whether the buck was shot. Turns out they where both hit in the same place 18 yards away and there was blood everywhere. I told dad to get back into his stand and I would walk the edge of the clearing untill I got to where the buck went back into the bush. When he said stop I looked around and found one drop of blood, this was about 30 yards from where it was shot, marked it off with tape and told dad to get down and help. Well after that it was fairly easy blood on both sides of the escape route still went about 90 yards before it fell. Thank god for game carts as we'ed still be there. Anyone who hunts a swamp can tell you they are productive but no fun pulling deer out of. Anyway thats the tale of two deer taking 15 minutes apart. Could go into alot more detail but I've been long winded enough. So always remember don't get discouraged. If you've done your scouting and know deer are in the area it's only a matter of time and time can come quiuckly!
