I know this is an extremely busy time of year, and this question is not urgent by any means.
It is my understanding that hydraulic dredging is illegal, but what exactly is Indiana's or the Federal definition of hydraulic dredging? Would using a 2" "fire hose" to wash a creek bank away or to force the over burden of a gravel bar into a large sluice box fall under that definition?

This is an area that I know very little about. I have reached out to individuals in the Division of Water. They provided an answer that makes a lot of sense but is extremely detailed. They have also offered to speak about the topic to have particular questions answered.
Could you please email me at lmorrison@dnr.in.gov and I will forward their response directly to you. The response will also contain the contact information for follow up questions. I do not want to post the response on here due to its complexity in addition to not wanting to throw their information out.
I will forward the response to anyone who emails me and request it. Have a wonderful day.
