I thought I would share my thoughts on some entry level crossbows that I have owned. Maybe this will help someone else who is looking to get into crossbow hunting.
I had a Wicked Ridge Warrior for the last couple of years. Last year I killed two deer with it. I really liked it but had to sell it to fund a project. I planned on getting another one this fall. When I went to buy a new one I found a deal on a used Wicked Ridge Invader so I bought it instead. That bow shot fine but I didn't like the scope or the acu draw. It clanked off of my harness and the rope didn't retract all the way. The scope that was on the Warrior was much better than the one that was on the Invader. I think the company used different scope manufacturers or something. I ended up selling the Invader and getting a PSE Fang. I got it in the mail this afternoon and I took a doe with it this evening. The scope isn't the best but its usable. The bow shoots very nice. It is pretty quiet for a crossbow. It came with the string stops and I added some Limbsavers to it.
Both the WR and the PSE Fang perform great. Both are fast and accurate. The factory scopes are OK but not that great. The PSE Fang is narrower by several inches. It is also lighter. I noticed it carrying it tonight. It was easier to maneuver in the stand. The PSE Fang was $100 cheaper than the Wicked Ridge Warrior. I really like the pistol grip on the Fang. I also liked the fact that it came with the string stops. The notch for the string cocker was bigger than on the WR bows. When I was cocking the WR the rope would slip off down to the back of the scope mount. The Fang has a cut out in the stock. It made it convenient to hook the rope to it to pull it up to the stand. The safety is much quieter on the fang.

I took the Fang out tonight for a test run. She only ran 30 yards after the shot.
