After repairing my buddy's Hi Point C9 (see firearms for more info) we fired a few boxes of ammo through her and she ran flawlessly. However, it seemed to me that the muzzle flash was pretty intense, especially with the Wolf ammo. I don't really know what is too much so I thought I would post a pic here and get some thoughts:

Slow burning powder? Did you fire any brand name/top shelf ammo through it?

The only handguns I have shot in the dark to check for muzzle flash have been 2.5 to 4" magnum revolvers so I don't really have a frame of reference. I will say the fireball was bigger than that with them. Have to try the compact M&P now and see how it does, interesting.

Different ammo/powder will have varying amounts of muzzle flash. Also, low light conditions seem to magnify it.

Wolf ammo pretty much sucks, that could be part of the problem

Wolf ammo is gun manufacturer's joke on the world so you'll have to buy a new gun. Some of their steel so comes pre-rusted.

I'd say with better ammo comes better result. You can see in the pic the "sparking" out in front of the flash that appears to be clumped powder or steel fragments. I could be way off with this but I'm assuming if you put a more reliable round through it would "fix itself"

Wolf ammo pretty much sucks, that could be part of the problem Unless you are shooting an Eastern Block weapon, stay away from the steel cased stuff. AKs and Makraovs will eat it all day, but it tears up the "normal" weapons. The process in which steel cased ammo "seals" the chamber is completely different than brass.
