Saw some dude driving through Logansport today with a big dog box in the back of his pick-up, hound dog noses sticking out the vents, and three dead coyotes on top of the box. He had a good morning hunt.

no yotes do not sell for much at all, 15-20 bucks... but its not about the money its going out and having fun and helping out farmers in the process...

Could you tell us a little about your typical setup Cooncrazy? What kind of calls do you use, what kinda rifle do you carry and what type of setups do you look for?

sounds good doug, soon as deer season ends ill be doing it every weekend..it will be fun, you got any yotes on your land?? That's gotta be the funniest question I've ever heard... ;D Believe it or not, I think this was the first deer season in about 4 or 5 when I haven't seen a 'yote while up there. Three or 4 years ago I dropped one opening weekend of shotgun. Two years ago I missed one with the bow, then they started howling at 8:30 AM!. Last year I had one about run full-tilt into me... They are there, and no matter the wind, there'll always be somewhere to set up. Especially if you can get across the creek!

Nick-like Dan said this is probably the first year in awhile that I haven't seen one or had a shot at one during deer season BUT that sure doesn't mean that they aren't there 'cause they've been putting on the howl quite a bit. If the creek is crossable then there is probably some good set ups to do there but there are probably plenty on this side too-having never gone after them before just by themselves I don't know what is really the best way of going after them for the area we have.

i usually go in the morning, 730ish, i use a simple tape player i got at walmart. I use either a rabbit distress, or a fawn distress, mixed in with a little challenge howls, to make the yotes think something is over by the rabbit/fawn about to have dinner, it usually brings em in running.. i try to get a set up where i am on a fence row, looking over a field with a woods on the opposite side, always having the wind in my face... that way i can see them coming... i try to get them within 100yards, but i have taken shots as far as 350yards, i use AR15, open sites, or a 22-250, both great guns, and i always carry a shotgun to use in close range or as a brush gun! and thats about it, im just a rookie tho, i have only been doing this a few years, im sure there are better setups and better guns, but it works for me.
