Woody brought up a point in another post. He said that Omni nocks are required for extreme string angles. It looks like Omni is a TenPoint term? When should half moon and flat nocks be used or not used? Why are there different nocks for the crossbows? I mean besides "because the mfg. said so".

When I bought my first crossbow, a Wicked Ridge Invader, flat nocks were required. This was before the Omni nock were around. I have bought some Omni nocks, but still use my flat Lumenocks with it for hunting. I don't like moon nocks, but the Mission XB320 I bought requires moon nocks, aluminum according to Mathews. I like a lighted nock for hunting and there's no aluminum lighted nocks that I know of. I use Nufletch lighted moon nocks with my 320. Tenpoint coppied thefunction of the lighted Omni nocks after the Nufletch Igniters. I was using them before Tenpoint ever had a lighted Omni nocks. I really like flat nocks they are much safer than moon nocks I feel, at least your not likely to dry fire your bow using flat nocks. I know a few guys the screwed up and put the arrow on the rail with the nock in the wrong position and dry fired their bow.
When I first got the 320 I ask the Dealer what kind of lighted nocks should I use with it. He gave me a pack of Nockturnal lighted moon nocks. I sighted my bow in using the Mission arrows that came with it which used aluminum moon nocks. I wanted to see a lighted nock in action so I knocked out the aluminun nock and put in a Nockturnal. The first shot the nock split and the carbon arrow cut my string. The bow was only 2 hours old. It took my dealer 2 weeks to get a string for the bow, needless to say I'm not a Nockturnal fan

I guess I don't know the difference. Mine are kinda V shape (groove) on the end, not flat. I hadn't heard of Omni. I like the groove.
I've never used the lighted ones, but if I'd still been working, I'm sure that I would have bought that gadget by now. They sure look cool in action.
