The two deer that I've shot, I stopped both of them. Is this something that hunters do all the time, or is this a bad thing on occasion?
I guess I have a fear that he'll move on me before he's hit.

I've stopped two out of four. The two I didn't stop were grazing. So they didn't move much.
Last year's buck I did stop because of trees being in the way. I felt like I couldn't get a good moving shot and I'd hit a tree.

If the deer is a walking past me I will BAH at it to get it to stop. If it is just feeding I'll wait till it gives me a good shot.

Usually I'll shoot a shot into an earthen embankment or some other safe place to Get them to stop so I can get a better shot try it next time the deer just won't stop walking past you it'll stop them 19 out of 20 time

Depends on how the deer is walking. Easing thru and nipping and browsing no. Walking like on a mission yes. The later in the season it gets the more likely they are to spook.

Thanks for the information! This is all very good data to me. I've never seen one feeding while hunting. In my woods, take a few minutes out of a day and they would never be there. They just pass through.
If I hadn't asked this question, I probably would have stopped them in my food plot. It will seem strange being able to feed them. Shockingly, this might actually feel unethical to me, if it does, I'm going back to the woods.

I've stopped a couple of them but usually they stop on their own.

This is my experience as well. It really depends on surroundings and deer behavior. Wide open spaces with plenty of shooting lanes probably will let the deer find it's spot. If the shot windows are tight or the deer is moving too fast I would try to stop it. I have had one spook that I really didn't need to stop. That changed my pattern
