I recently picked up a new property to coyote hunt on. This morning I finally made it out for a first light calling session. I had decided to slip in along a fencerow that runs between a cut beanfield and a shelled cornfield. With a northwest wind I could move undetected along this fencerow and get within 120 ye ards of a thicket I figured would be holding a coyote or two. I got set up in the fencerow and placed my FoxPro and JIB decoy about 40 yards out in the cornstalks between the fencerow and the thicket. I tried to activate my caller but was unable to get the volume to come up on it, so I switched to my trusty Primos mouth call. Before I could get through my first series I saw a coyote coming at a run through the stalks. By the time I saw him he was already half way to my position from the thicket. When I moved to bring up my rifle he saw me and slammed on the brakes. As I picked him up in my scope he had turned to run but hesitated before unassing the area. This gave me a second to steady on him and shoot. At the shot I heard a smack as the 100 grain PSP from my .243 hit home. The coyote went into a slow spin then tipped over DRT. He's an adult coyote probably a 2 yr old. He weighed in at 34 pounds and is very well furred. The bullet entered behind his shoulder and did not exit. He came from the corner of the thicket in the background of the photo. My stand was located directly behind the coyote on the other side of the fence. Good hunting y'all.. Coyote 6974
