Yesterday afternoon my fishing and hunting buddy calls and asks if I could meet him on the farm he hunts which is right down the road from my home and to bring my Mule because he thought he may have just shot a Coyote and it was out in the middle of this very wet, untilled farm field. We located the animal and it was great shot at well over 200 yards so we brought it out to the road to take pictures of it and boy was it NASTY, it had numerous ticks as well as the mange.
Soooooo I don't think you will find either one of us eating SONG DOGS anytime soon.

I would not even think about eating a coyote. Too bad because when I tried to get one of my old duck hunting partners interesting in going coyote hunting with me some time his response was as follows:
I don't shoot anything that I can't eat!
This sort of took me by surprise but then I understand where he's coming from. I didn't have time to talk to him and try to convince him that taking out the coyotes (predators) helps the duck population and another small game animals that we hunt for food. IE Coyotes should be shot to eliminate the completion for small game that we hunt for food. I didn't have the time to talk to him about that. He suggested that I ask another friend to go hunting coyotes with me. So that sort of put a very abrupt end to the conversation as that old friend is no longer a friend of mine. Old neighbor dispute or something. I'm not sure that the first friend new about my bad relationship with the other friend or not but it put and end to my conversation very quickly. Too bad because the old duck hunting partner has some nice property out in Gibson County that holds a lot of coyotes and other game that would be fun to hunt.

I read somewhere that we (humans) are reluctant to eat another predator. There are exceptions but if it eats meat...I don't eat it!
