Well coming home tonight saw what I thougt was a dog running across the road ... turned out to be a small yote. Must be living in the wooded area next the the house subdivision. Living off road kill I guess. Althought I did see a few posters for missing cats.

I see you claimed Indianapolis as your home in another post.... my camera"wo"man and I filmed a coyote feeding on mice and rabbits at the corner of 116th and Meridian about three weeks ago. We got 15-20 minutes of tape off that critter, he paid no attention to passing cars or yapping dogs.
I'm sure they eat an alley cat or two but they have been known to feast on cat food as well. Pet food left out on the porch, even scraps, will become dinner to a city-slick-coyote. Much like possums, coons and other small game they learn what danger is relative to their environment. I am scheduled to hunt and trap a few farms on the fringe of Indy limits this winter, also a privately owned airport in another town, and I expect to pull several good animals from those places!

I recently saw two coyotes at the south side of I-74 and Franklin road. They were running through the neighborhood around 4PM.

Wasn't there reported cases of Rabies in Indianapolis, not from coyotes, but still ... they are in the city and you never know. Hopefully they will not lose their fear of people.
