SE IN appears pretty close to average. I'd say my own observations would agree with that. No real changes one way or the other that I've noticed. I still see one or two trophy class (my definition) bucks while hunting each year...and a bunch of bucks (6 to 8) that are respectable (my definition) shooters. Then add in 10 to 12 small bucks each year. That is my typical year of observations between my two hunting properties (Franklin and Dearborn Counties).

On our main farm we have actually seen more bucks the last few years. I have seen on film and in person at least 1 per year over 150", 2 to 5 in the 125 to 140 range, and 8 to 12 ranging from spikes to small 8 pointers in the 100 inch and down range. It's my doe population that I'm having trouble maintaining. Before anybody starts blaming antlerless permits,iI'm still having poacher issues. We found another doe shot beside the road this weekend.

Lots of variables to who sees what....we have a great chunk of ground and I'm lucky enough to spend lots of hours in a tree each year. My hunting is consistently good year after year. Since buying the farm in 2009 my buddy and I have killed 5 bucks that are 140" or better and 4.5 years old or older. I/we don't expect to kill one every year but we each see a handful of shooters each year in addition to lots and lots of immature bucks.
Doe density is unbelievable....
We've killed some good ones but not been able to kill the biggest bucks we have seen.
So....its as good or better than at any time in my 30 years of hunting.

Saw A huge decrease in the area I hunt. I do majority of my deer hunting at salamonie and Mississinewa lake area. I believe this year was the fewest amount of deer I have ever seen around there. Both were bad, but I would have to say Missisinewa was worse than Salamonie. Several guys I hunt with felt the same way. I had 3 different set ups and cameras at each lake and had to end up moving a couple of them because the deer just wasnt there anymore.

I've never hunted the area...but I found a dead 150 class 11pt a few weeks ago on the bank of the mississinewa reservoir while crappie fishing. Maybe ehd has taken a toll....he was right next to the water Trophy Paradise Habitat Consulting "Trophies are built from the ground up" m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=852914431431752

North/Central Indiana here. Ever since the OBR went into effect I've seen the age bracket of bucks increase slightly which is great and the caliber of bucks I'm hunting have definitely rose with it. Doe density comes and goes...3 years ago we were way way too overrun on one property and we had to take some out...last couple years we've only taken 1 a year out as it seems stable.

I would say less bigger and less in general expecially when u consider I never saw a buck during gun or muzzelloader season. Not even out of range and only 2 all of archery

I saw more bucks, not bigger but more this past season than any other season. Not to mention I watched three walk in front of me this past weekend while turkey hunting and each one was sporting little velvet stumps.

Has this property done well in the past? Dekalb SW of auburn. Only second year on property but season befor last I saw quite a few during archery and a few wile gun hunting. This year I only saw 2 deer during all of gun and muzz and they were does. Would like to find some other places as back ups but finding some place to hunt around here is harder than pulling eye teeth. This was first year in thirty years I did not kill a deer in IN.and only second time I did not kill a buck. I hunt HARD and long. Not unusual to be in tree from dark to dark in all 3 seasons every weekend and some week days after work.

Seems odd sightings would plummet so much without a reasoning? Could be neighboring pressure as well or hunting techniques on parcels nearby causing the issue. That sucks though, and I hear ya on finding places, it is very very tough.

I always hunt the wind watch sent use different stands. I study trails and all sign to try and figure what is going on and best aera to hunt. There has been minnamal hunting pressure on neighboring property. Nothing really changed the deer just left late oct and did not return till jan. Why? I have no idea. Nothing really different this year from last. Did get some picts on camra at night during arch but none during gun and muzz. Even moved it to other locations to see what I could find
