I plan on spending as much time as possible in the field in pursuit of Wiley Coyote and other predators. I am just curious as to how many people on here are as addicted to calling as I am.

I never just go out for predators, but I don't let coyotes walk by when I see them.

Zero. Unless it is a "chance" encounter while hunting other critters.

I hunt mostly SE Indiana but still manage 3-4 trips to SW Indiana and in the Parke/Clay county area.

I'll start calling coyotes as soon as the crops start coming off the fields. I'll really get serious about calling after deer gun season is over. I enjoy hunting coyotes over the entire winter. It gives me a reason to be outdoors when most guys are turning into couch potatoes. When the Super Bowl is on I'll be out calling and shooting coyotes. When the Daytona 500 is over, I'll head to the farm and do some calling. It's hard to beat being out on a cold clear January morning calling predators.
Good hunting y'all.. Coyote 6974

I usually hunt coyotes more in Jan and Fed but did kill 3 last year during deer season. I start a bait pile with road kill when its really cold with snow on the ground. The deer freeze solid and i use a steel rod to stake them to the ground so the coyotes cant drag them away. Since the deer are froze it takes them a while to eat one. My set up is under a big cedar tree on a hill top and the bait pile is about 60 yds away on the other side of a fence that i can shoot over. I use a chair and cross sticks and wait them out. In my area there is a group of guys that run coyotes with dogs using tracking collars. One of these days im going along with them. h.h.

Oh I might get out a time or two! I will hunt over 55 counties this year... 300+ days total (Other game included) in the field. My goals are pretty lofty for this season. Last season I called over 100 for the first time, I hope to double that this year. With trips to Texas, Arizona, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois and Ohio I think I can get er' dun. Most of my coyotes come from Southern and Central Indiana... but I'll kill half a dozen north of Fort Wayne/Lafayette each season as well. I've been working hard all summer to line up new properties across the state, adding around 40,000 acres to the list. Looking forward to coming over and seeing you this winter Stinky... talked with your neighbor again the other day and he says things are looking good in his area coyotewise.

Not much this year. Seems my friends are really, really, really into deer and once they fill their tags .... that's about it. I may go out once or twice ...
