I went out last night and located 2 different set of coyotes on a buddies farm. He lives in the middle of 458 acres at the end of a dead end county road. I set was to the SE and one set was due N. I was set up about 1/2 hr before official sunrise and waited an additional 15-20 minutess before I started calling. 20 minutes into the set I saw a female hauling backside towards the caller. I shut it off and she continued another 30 yards straight to it. When she hit the caller she caught my scent and picked up the pace. I rose up on my knees and started barking at her. She slowed enough for me to get a clean shot at her 65 yards away. She dropped instantly as I hit her right in the head. I immediately grabbed the remote to the caller and let out 2 howls from a young female and then went into coyote puppy cries for 1 minute. I then resumed a woodpecker distress and heard a howl from another coyote that was 400+ yds away. I switched to a male rally howl for 2 series and resumed the woodpecker distress and coyote pup cries. 10 minutes later a big red male trotted towards the call about 50 yards away from me and I dropped him. I immediately let out 2 female howls again and resumed the pup and woodpecker calls. 15 minutes later nothing else showed so I called it a morning. I left the truck at 7:12 am and was back in it at 8:30 am. GREAT MORNING!
I am excited as this was the first hunt with my new caller. It is a Wildlife Technologis with 28 different sounds. Using this caller this morning I used cottontail, crow, coyote, and woodpecker sounds. In the 1 hr that I was in the field I saw 35+ crows, 2 pileated woodpeckers, and 2 coyotes. This call is the berries!

Bighorn - here is a link to their website. I researched for almost 6 months before buying this thing (when you see the price you will know why). If you ever want to see it in action let me know as I wish I had this option before purchasing. I am in your area quite a bit as the inlaws have a place on Rocky Fork Lake in Parke County and my brother in law lives in Brazil. I would love to hunt that area. www.wildlifetech.com/pages/home.htm

Dang, now that is a hefty price tag !!!!!
You have some good hunting ground down all around you.......
Who is your brother-in-law? Might know him.
Maybe we can hook up sometime...

Bryan Coleman - he is an engineer for Cinergy. Coach Gettle at Northview is a good friend of mine as well.

I know coach Gettle. Don't know how long he will be the coach though. I guess some stuff has happened over the last couple of years from what I have heard.

Good job StinkyChomper, but don't be talking too much about that WT... not a popular product among internet experts.... let the doubters be doubters! Killed a few this weekend myself, good time of year to be calling coyotes;

yes it is a great time to be calling. I also have noticed many WT haters out there. All the power to them.

I just realized you are from North Vernon! LOL!!!!!!
I just called 7, missed 2 and killed 3 in the North Vernon area on Saturday. Should've hooked up for dinner at the fine McDonalds that made me wait 20 minutes for a chicken sandwhich, or perhaps the Scipio Pizza joint that wouldnt' take credit cards and doesn't offer dine-in. A guy could starve to death around there?!?!?!
I'll be back up in a few weeks... intend to bring a few more of your dogs home next time!
